Hiro was one of my favourite characters in season one, as well. Then they sent him to feudal Japan. Then they turned his brain to mush. Now he's been given another lame plotline. :(
Sylar, on the other hand, is back to his deliciously evil self. I don't know how far you got in season three, but the second half was definitely an improvement and the characters started feeling like they did in season one. I'm hoping this new season will only continue to improve on that.
I gave up on the fourth episode of S3. I'm going to download them and watch eventually. Other shows are taking more of a priority though. I hope this season doesn't suck!
Ugh. I almost stopped watching around that time as well. Something about a certain character has improved, though. I don't know if you want me to spoil it?
Sylar isn't actually a Petrelli. Angela lied to him to manipulate him. When he found this out it started him back on his path to becoming angry, evil Sylar.
