let's do some angel talk.

Well, technically Buffy but since it's about Angel and Spike then I'll just say it. I'm doing a James Marsters interview and he said that Angel's all about lines and sophistication and Spike's more working class. Now how ... did that happen? Angel came from the Irish (haha) kind of small town background and Spike came from the upper class kind of crust. His inner circle (or the circle he attempted to include himself in) were all kind of posh and hoity-toity. Did anyone ever explain this? Ever? How did things reverse like that in the future where Spike was the one with the torn jeans and kind of biker personality and Angel was the clean cut one. I suppose it has to do with the good and evil aspect but still, you know.

I think they just transformed themselves through their experiences. Spike wasn't really welcomed into society, he was an outcast. So after he was turned, he reinvented himself. Same goes for Angel, only he went in the opposite direction.

I guess it has something to do with the fact that Angelus was raised by Darla, who was all about expensive posh life. She probably trained him. XD And as for Spike, he was mocked for being such a prissy wimp before (I mean that with love), so he had to become the 'bad boy'. XD

I agree that Spike purposefully reinvented himself. He was a namby-pamby as a human and mocked and humiliated by Angel as a fledgling vampire. I think he figure if he was going to get some respect, he was going to have to get it in the most vicious of ways. Exit William, enter Spike.

I was never a huge AtS fan, but it's possible that Angel came from nothing, was molded into Angelus by Darla including a fine lavish lifestyle, reverted to less than nothing when he got his soul and was living in filth. Maybe Angel, as we know him, felt the leather coat and hair products were a reasonable melding of his past incarnations.

Lol, a fun thought just popped into my head! You should definitely do a poll or something to see who had the best leather coat, Angel or Spike!
