End of the Year Fandom Meme.

Meme #1. )

2010 Year In Review.

Meme #2. )

qaf 30 day meme: day 29 - 30 (bonus day).

I've absolutely loved doing this meme! Maybe there'll be another one in '20? Ha.

Day 29 - Your favorite QaF fanart (icon, wallpaper etc)

That would be anything by [livejournal.com profile] url_girl, [livejournal.com profile] raelala (as [livejournal.com profile] severina2001 mentioned), [livejournal.com profile] ohfreckle, and our original icon maker of all icon makers - [livejournal.com profile] paddies! I also loved the wallpapers that I used to have. Man, there was a whole site for it. They were all great.

Day 30 - Do you have any QaF related items? And if you could own one item from the sets, what would it be?

Well, of course I do! I have all the DVDs and the first DVD of the British series. I have the book in hardcover that I got the day it came out. I have a bunch of episodes recorded from Showtime. I have some screeners. I have a lot of scripts. I have a big S1 poster. I have something from one of the conventions. I have a matchbook, the calendars, fans, temporary tattoos, a shirt I got from one of the Planet Babylon stops in Vancouver. And thanks to one v. v. generous fangirl, BBC, I got me a pillowcase from the set! \o/ I think that's everything. That sounds like a lot.

God, what don't I want from the set would've been the better question, haha. Anything in Brian's loft.

Bonus Day - Anything QaF related - whatever tickles your fancy

I'm pimpin', haha. I'm gonna pimp my website qafcaps.com. It's definitely a labor of love. QaF and now Lure are my strongest fandoms and I'm just not someone who goes from one thing to the next. I kind of stick to one thing and that's where I'm happiest. I'd love to have some kind of archive site dedicated to our fandom. Still considering it and it's really a matter of getting some participation from some of the former fandom fans. It'd be nice is all I'm sayin'!

The Meme. )

And those are all the memes I wanted to get out before the new year!

I hope that everyone is having a safe, awesome night tonight. I'm not really big on it so I am here. Give me a chance to get caught up on everything. So, wishing everyone a fabulous new year and I'm sure that I'll be seeing you all around!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

musicandme: (atwt ; pensive reid)

Post anonymously (or if you're brave enough, post under your user name). Ask me any question that you've been dying to ask me since you've known me on LJ. It can be personal, it can relate to my fics or even just about my fandom favorites. Anything. I will answer every question truthfully, no holding back either. And I won't even try to guess who asked the questions. Or tell me something. Tell me something that you've always wanted to say to me.

I can take it. Public post, no screening.

icon meme!

Aug. 15th, 2010 11:51 am
musicandme: (Default)

Good morning, Sunday people! Have a meme.

1. Reply to this post with the word PIRATES and I will pick six of your icons.
2. Make a post (including this info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create a never ending cycle of icon glee.

Here are the ones that [livejournal.com profile] plasticine_star picked for me!

1.

This was one of [livejournal.com profile] url_girl's icons in a series of Randy Harrison icons. I just think that Randy is one of the Kings of Awesome and this icon emphasizes that. He was never afraid to say what he wanted to say about Queer as Folk as it was airing, he chooses ambitious theater roles, and he acts for himself because it's what he feels passionate about. Therefore? King of Awesome.

2.

Ah, Spring Awakening. It was so refreshing to see this little original rock musical take over Broadway. It just transports me back to high school ... without the sex, abortion, and suicide! but the feelings were all the same. There was innocence and discovery and tough feelings to deal with. Okay, this was nothing like high school. But, it would've made for a more interesting four years. I love it. And, of course, this is one of my favorite songs and scenes in the play.

3.

Another creation by the talented [livejournal.com profile] url_girl! Thinking back, I have forgotten how we came up with this, lol. I think we were talking about fangirls ... okay, just went looking for it and I couldn't find the epic convo. But, it had something to do with fangirls and how they would stalk and be all meerkat-like about it, haha.

4.

This pretty much defined the several years I dedicated my life to Lost. I read all the analysis, recaps, people's comments and I was still confused by things pretty often! Lost was never about the answers otherwise I would've gone insane. I wanted to know things but I wanted to let the show take me wherever it wanted to go. Doesn't mean I didn't hate some episodes because I did. This icon was just hysterical for the last couple of seasons.

5.

Oh, Reid Oliver. I love you so much. Not only are you outrageously hot but you're snarky, don't know how to be nice to people (except Luke, Katie, Bob, and Jacob), and ... did I mention hot? This was a scene where Luke was trying to teach Dr. Oliver how to speak to the nurses at the hospital. He sarcastically said, "Yep. It's a nice freakin' day." This was followed by the loin quivering line, "What if I only wanna play nice with you?" *TURNS INTO A PUDDLE OF GOO* This icon was made by the brilliant [livejournal.com profile] comeoctober who is awesome and makes equally awesome icons!

6.

Cameron! From Modern Family. It's pretty much the best comedy show out there right now. Cameron says that he's not that dramatic and then he grabs a trash can and runs toward the car when they accidentally lock Lily in the car. So, so great! So much can be said about how hilarious this is in this one little icon. Perfection.

1. Happiest of birthdays to my bestie, C! I know you pop in every once in a while so I just wanted to wish you a happy birthday here too to cover all my social media bases. I think I've been writing you a message in here ever since I had this journal so I'm keeping up with tradition, right? ♥

Another happy birthday to [livejournal.com profile] ayesakara whose love of all things Gale is endless and that is never a bad thing. I'm so glad that I'm getting to know you a little better, friend! I owe you an overdue e-mail, definitely. Will send that off to you soon. ♥

2. It's a brand new month and I've decided I need a little more focus and need to get some things done this month. So, I'm giving myself the challenge of doing NaBloPoMo. It's easier to do these since I have a Blackberry now and I don't have an excuse to miss a day. The theme of this month is Looking Up as in "things are looking up" and I think that that's an important message to convey. So, I'll be writing something once a day. I'm going to try to make some public entries but there are some that I have to lock up and those are going into the 'friends only' zone.

3. I'm also gonna do the 30 day meme even though May is 31 days. No biggie.

30 Day Meme. )

musicandme: (hanson ; and we won't go down)
Who comments the most on this journal? )

They should also name this meme "the people that you miss" meme. People have defriended me, moved, deleted, and I miss a lot of them like crazy. Call me a sentimentalist.

How was everyone's New Year? Loved seeing the cast of Hair (briefly) on Carson Daly's show. And where was Mr. Will Swenson? With Audra in Iowa? I just read that Iowa part on her Twitter. I wonder how the thing at Joe's Pub went. Hopefully it went well for Broadway Impact!
musicandme: (gcreel ; cmas)
Look back at your entries for the year and take the first sentence of each month to sum it all up!

JANUARY:
I don't think that I have enough good things to say about you.

FEBRUARY:
If I didn't just look it up on imdb, I would've thought that whoever wrote the script for the Dead Like Me movie only saw the pilot episode of the show.

MARCH:
Thank you!

APRIL:
Norbert Leo Butz in a Grands commercial?

MAY:
I haven't written in here in a while.

JUNE:
Okay, so I did NaBloPoMo last year in November as an alternative to the more well known writing a novel throughout the month activity.

JULY:
HAIR IS COMING TO THE CONAN O BRIEN SHOW.

AUGUST:
Randy gone and done some more karaoke!

SEPTEMBER:
I thought that I'd post about how everything is on fire down here and I can see most of it from my bedroom window.

OCTOBER:
yeah, no good news in the meeting.

NOVEMBER:
501. If you could rename yourself what would your new name be?

DECEMBER:
Apparently there are many things that happen in November.

These sentences actually explain who I am and this year pretty well! Maybe I'll be back with a more comprehensive review. I've never seen this many "year in reviews" and picspams on my friends list before. I like it! Keep 'em coming! I can't believe that the decade is going to be changing soon. It's been a pretty fucking awesome 10 years.

Fantastic choices on the Q&A everyone! Seems like everyone's in the holiday spirit. Here are my list of movies that I have to watch during the holidays:

The Nightmare Before Christmas, A Muppets Christmas Carol, Home Alone, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (yes, I did have a TalkBoy), Meet Me in St. Louis, The Santa Clause, Elf, Babes in Toyland (with Annette), The Year Without Santa Claus (and mostly every stop motion Christmas/New Year themed film).

I think that that's about it. These are the movies that I grew up watching during the holidays and they always take me back to that time when I first remember watching them. I saw The Nightmare Before Christmas, A Muppets Christmas Carol, Home Alone 2, and The Santa Clause in the theater when they first came out and those memories are stuck with me in a good way.

I mostly found out about these movies or watched them on my own. My mom would watch them because I watched them and she ended up liking them. I remember this one Christmas where me and my dad were alone for the first time together in years and we watched all three Godfathers. I was older so I understood them all better and they ended up being my favorite movies. So, I've learned in my informal poll that everyone has different tastes but still movie hounds around the holidays. :)

Sometimes I feel like an ass for doing these but 'tis the season:

THE "i've always wanted to tell you" MEME

Top 5 Movie Characters )

Top 5 Brian and Justin Kisses )

Five Favourite Music Videos:

1) Metallica - Enter Sandman: This is more like ... videos that have stuck with me the most. I remember seeing Enter Sandman when I was just a kid and it was so frightening. It reminded me of every nightmare that I've ever had and I couldn't look away!

2) Duran Duran - Come Undone: This video actually reminds me of one of my favorite Faerie Tale Theater stories, The Little Mermaid. Well, the mermaids in the video probably help that right along. I always wondered how long they were able to hold their breath underwater. It's just a fantastic video.

3) Michael Jackson - Thriller: What isn't there to love about Thriller? It's a short story. It's well conceived and executed. It's a great song. I have the Making Of memorized as I watch it and I love thinking about everything involved to create this video. It really was a film and it was a good one.

4) Michael Jackson - Man in the Mirror (Moonwalker version): I think I've been watching Moonwalker since I was a toddler and I love this version of the song. The video version that aired makes you think and I know who those significant people are now but this is the version I grew up with. During that really strong chorus when he spins around and slams his knees on the ground? Powerful and inspiring. It's such a beautiful song.

5) Janet Jackson - Alright: Had to throw in some Janet because she followed in her brother's footsteps. Janet had a lot of memorable videos but I picked Alright because it was just so much fun! Cab Calloway was in it and it had a lot of vibrant colors. She's in that black suit and just playing around, playing hopscotch, and singing. It's a fantastic video.

Five Favourite Michael Jackson Songs:

1. Man in the Mirror - I think I said it all in the music video part. It's an inspirational song. It's powerful. It's got a great hook to it and whenever I sing along to it or think about it I just see a sea of candles in a large crowd and Michael performing.

2. Keep the Faith - The Dangerous album was my favorite Michael album for a long time and Keep the Faith is one of the songs that made it my favorite. Not only is it inspiring but the beginning is just so simple. It's a simple melody that starts out quietly and then there's that beat that comes in before the chorus and then the choir. It's a song that just gets bigger and better as it goes on.

3. Another Part of Me - I used to see Captain EO a lot when I was a kid. A lot. This song will always remind me of the end where everything in that world is happy and colorful again and full of music!

4. Music and Me - Again, another song from Moonwalker that's always stuck with me. It's so wistful and Michael's young voice is so crystal clear and beautiful. It's always been one of my favorite songs.

5. Dirty Diana - This song is the definitive concert song. I think it describes every groupie experience that I've been part of/seen. It's just one of those songs and I love everything about it.

Five Favourite TV kisses:

1. Buffy - Becoming Part II: The thing to do after a great kiss is to kill your vampire lover and send him straight to hell, right? No matter how many times I see it, I always end up crying like I've never cried for anything before. Absolutely heartbreaking.

2. Angel - You're Welcome: Conversely, I loved Angel/Cordelia. I loved the way that they developed and that last moment of the show is one of the best in television ... ever. Ever.

3. The Office - Casino Night: Jim/Pam's first kiss. Okay, also another heartbreaking moment of forbidden love. It was sweet though and ended appropriately enough.

4. Friends - Ross and Rachel: Don't know the name of this episode but it just couldn't have gone any other way right? A cliched but lovely kiss in the rain.

5. Queer as Folk: Any Brian/Justin kiss. The end.

Ask me my fannish Top Five [Whatevers]. Any top fives. Doesn't matter what, really! And I will answer them all in a new post (possibly). There might even be pictures.

Comment to this entry and I'll pick three of your fandoms. You must then update your journal and answer the following questions:

01) What got you into this fandom in the first place?
02) Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?
03) Favorite episodes/books/movies/etc.?
04) Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?
05) Do you think that more people should get into this fandom?

I was given Hanson, Dexter and QaF. Since yesterday was Hanson day, the first one is definitely appropriate.

Hanson
1) I was 12 years old and I just got home from school. It was March 1997 and I was watching MTV that afternoon. There were these three guys being interviewed and they were goofy and fun and that one over there was really cute. They played their music video afterward and the song was called "Mmmbop". My best friend Jaymie called me and said, "Did you see that?" Indeed I did. That was the beginning of my involvement and I've been hooked ever since.
2) I'm pretty sure it's with me for life.
3) My favorite album(s) have been Middle of Nowhere, This Time Around, Snowed In, Live from Albertane, The Walk, and Underneath. All in the order I like them.
4) Not really. I pretty much just keep a tab on Hanson Secrets. I used to back in the Devil Angel days but no longer.
5) I'm pretty okay with everyone right now. Any more and I'll probably go nuts. I can barely handle the fans as it is.

Dexter
1) I started watching from the first episode on. I got pulled in by all the promos and commercials and ended up loving the first season.
2) I'll move on. Unfortunately S2 didn't live up to S1 and neither did S3, for me. Although that little twist in S3 was pretty darn good.
3) Favorite episode, storyline was the whole Dexter and Brian. I love them. I do.
4) I don't.
5) Um ... sure. Season 1 was good. Don't know how it's going to turn out in the long run. I have hope.

Queer as Folk
1) It was the summer of 2003. I just quit my internship, graduated from high school, and made the unfortunate decision of moving early to Los Angeles. That meant three months with absolutely nothing to do. I passed Hal Sparks on Sunset Blvd. and was wondering what he was up to since I Love the 80's stopped airing. Then I discovered that he was still on Queer as Folk and that show kept going. About a month before this, I watched my first episode, episode 303 and found out that my one true love and soulmate forever, Fabrizio Filippo was on it. All those thoughts in mind, I rented S1 from Blockbuster and never turned back.
2) I'll never move on. It's going to be with me forever.
3) Yeah right. I'll make you guys a list later. Favorites are impossible.
4) I try to contribute anywhere in any medium, any fan gathering (online), and kind of discussion.
5) Nope. I'm pretty good where we stand. Kthx. I know. Bitchy.

New Nuke today! I'd like to see them together again though.

musicandme: (nuke ; luke!)

While I'm impatiently waiting for Luke/Noah today at work, and since I'm procrastating while at work, I'm going to post these courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] colorthenight!

Let's start the new year off right; the problem with LJ: we all think we are so close, but really, we know nothing about each other. So I want you to ask me something you think you should know about me. Something that should be obvious, but you have no idea about. Ask away. More than one question is allowed.
Then post this in your LJ and find out what people don't know about you!

and...

Post anonymously or if you're brave enough, post under your user name. Ask me any question that you've been dying to ask me since you've known me on LJ. It can be personal, it can relate to my fics or even just about my fandom favorites. Anything. I will answer every question truthfully, no holding back either. And I won't even try to guess who asked the questions.

Golden Globes commentary to come later. For now I'll say yay Slumdog! Boo FCC.

Audio meme from [livejournal.com profile] cloverdilly! Uh, first audio post. Sorry that it sucks so hard.

1) What's your name?
2) How old are you?
3) Where are you from? Are you living there right now?
4) Is it cold where you are?
5) What's the time?
6) What are you wearing?
7) What was the last thing you listened to?
8) What was the last thing you ate?
9) What was the last thing you watched on tv?
10) What's your favorite tv show? Why?
11) Quick! Find a book, or something with text on it! Flip to a random page and read some of it! GO!
12) What was the last movie you saw? How was it?
13) Do YOU think you have an accent? Talk about that.
musicandme: (nuke ; head on shoulder)

Took me a while but I choose a really generic layout that I like. I just have to have something like this for now because I look at LiveJournal so often at work that I don't want certain people at work questioning me about my favorite couple evah. So, it's changed for now until I devote my time to making a new one with a pretty new header.

HAS EVERYONE BEEN WATCHING LUKE AND NOAH LATELY LIKE I HAVE? IT'S BEEN AWESOME. <3 I ALSO CAN'T WAIT UNTIL THE NEXT TIME THEY POP UP!

I will reveal no spoilers though because my braintwin ([livejournal.com profile] url_girl) would probably kill me. So, I remain hush hush about anything I've heard and everyone knows where to get those anyway. Like I said? Can't wait.

Meme time! Taken from [livejournal.com profile] likeknives <3

Reply to this post and I will pick six of your icons.
Make a post (including this info) and talk about the icons I chose.
Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.

This will create a never ending cycle of icon glee.

Sorry guys, I know I'm lazy and probably won't reply and find icons for everyone so I can't promise it. But feel free to take and do the meme!

1. I absolutely love Hedwig and the Angry Inch. For some reason the first time I saw that film I felt like it just spoke to me. Y'know, I went to an all girls CATHOLIC college prep school and there really wasn't much diversity. So, seeing this movie kind of opened my eyes to a new world. Not the first gay film I've seen but the music was really great, the characters fantastic and the story of the film? This user gives this movie two thumbs way up.

2. This says it all doesn't it? STFU NOOB. Got this when I started getting tired of newbies. I know, I know. I was once a noob but I didn't ask obvious questions or you know what? If I didn't know something before asking it, I looked it up. If I wondered if something was allowed in a community, I looked at the rules first and read them. Isn't that what the rules are for? Sigh, just yeah. Having Alvin say this from the Chipmunk Movie? Awesome.

3. No secret that I'm a Queer as Folk fan. This scene is definitely in my top ten favorite Qaf scenes. Yeah, it's romantic and heartbreaking and I remember crying when I first saw it and some times after it. "I want you inside me" can be said a number of ridiculous ways but Randy always manages to pull of every line, every nuance of a scene and just make it real. That's what made the Brian/Justin couple so wonderful to watch and that's why I JUST WON'T QUIT THIS FANDOM. :X

And will post the other three sometime tomorrow. Probably Saturday. Hanson tomorrow and gotta head to bed now so, more to come!
