I've been all over the place tonight on the internet doing totally random things and listening to VH1's Greatest Songs of the 90's playlist. Glee's love for all things 90's (Acafellas, anyone?) has really got me on a nostalgic trip. I used to love those songs. I used to sing "I Wanna Sex You Up" and "Let's Talk About Sex" and my Aunt was always telling me that it was inappropriate to say those things in public. But, what did I care? I was 5. I didn't know what sex was, okay? Blame my parents for their total lack of censorship for anything I watched or listened to. Let's go back. Click on the song title to download.

1. Hanson - MMMBop: Ah, the song that really started it all. I was a teenager and I got sucked right into the crazy that became pop mania. Surrounding Hanson during this period were groups such as the Spice Girls and the Backstreet Boys. I stuck it out with them though. Twelve years and counting. I mean, they were right weren't they? The song really was about relationships. So, hold on to the ones who really care 'cause in the end they'll be the only ones there // when you get old and start losing your hair // Can you tell me who will still care?

2. TLC - Waterfalls: What were the 90's without TLC? I remember rejoicing every time "Diggin' On Me" was #1 on MTV's video charts. We took a trip to Vegas in 1994 and the only thing I listened to on that four hour road trip was crazysexycool. What a fantastic album.

3. Color Me Badd - I Wanna Sex You Up: Recently covered by Matt Morrison on Glee (HOT) this song was originally done by a boy band in the early 90's. Come on, it was catchy, fun to sing with, dance to ... and now Glee's cover? Sigh. This song is making a come back.

4. Bell Biv DeVoe - Poison: While we're on Glee covers, I'll upload this one too. You guys remember Bell Biv DeVoe, don't you?! Well, shame on you. They were a pop phenomenon! Okay. Maybe they weren't but they were once all members of New Edition and they formed their own group and came up with this little catchy tune. I still jam to this song.

5. Montell Jordan - This Is How We Do It: The partay's here on the Westside! Okay, this was the jam in the mid-90's for the R&B crowd. What do I remember about Montell Jordan? Well, I randomly ran into him at the 1998 Billboard Music Awards. He's tall. Like ... basketball player tall. Tall. If you put this song on in a 90's crowd? Everyone will sing it. I remember McMaster and James (Canadian pop duo) singing it at a concert and the crowd just joined right in. Catchy.

6. Oasis - Wonderwall: There should be songs that would be a litmus test for a friendship because this song would be on that test. I remember one random afternoon, maybe it was lunch, in high school and out on senior lawn someone brought a boom box. She popped in Oasis's "Champagne Supernova" and everyone was like, "Aww. I love this song." I remember someone in my group saying that they didn't know the words (was it you, Claire? Fess up) and there was the collective gasp (or was it just from me?). Anyway, the lawn burst out into quiet song. Oasis just brings the crowd together. Wonderwall is one of those songs that everyone knows. Plus, Oasis. 90's phenom.

7. Dr. Dre & 2Pac - California Love: I was from Sacramento, the capital of California. How could this song NOT be a bit where I was from? I was 10 when this song came out and I took a trip to Chicago that year. I was so confused as to why the song was playing in Chicago. I mean, I knew about California's superiority. I wasn't aware everyone else knew it too!

8. Backstreet Boys - I Want It That Way: I knew that N Sync were superior over BSB. Better moves, better songs, better harmonies. Sorry kids. Fact. That said, I was a fan of both. I had/have all Backstreet Boy albums including the European imports and various singles. Now, this song came at the tail end of the 90's. It was off of their album Millennium. What made it memorable? Cheesy dance moves, typical boy band moves, parodied in Blink 182's "All the Small Things". Oh and have you seen this awesome video? I want them to hire me ---

9. Mariah Carey - Vision of Love: Remember when Mariah Carey wasn't a joke and she could you know ... sing? Me too! In 1996 she and Boyz II Men's "One Sweet Day" stayed on the charts for a million years. This isn't that song but remember that!? This song definitely shows off that crazy range of hers that she's destroyed. I could say the same for Whitney. I have her "I Will Always Love You" here too but she will not make the list.

10. Sir Mix-a-Lot - Baby Got Back: Oh my god, Becky. Look at her butt. More observant words have never been uttered. I'll end this list right here.

Rock and alternative and grunge weren't well represented on my list. Well, I was an R&B/Rap/Pop girl in the 90's. Alanis Morrissette kind of knocked me out of my little R&B world with "You Oughta Know" but I didn't really go beyond that. I liked "Enter Sandman" by Metallica and really liked Nirvana's Unplugged when they showed it on MTV. Loved Radiohead's early stuff and still do.

They were totally awesome. I don't know why more people weren't into them. I mean, they knew Faded. I guess they just didn't care about them much? There were only 30 people at that Tower Record signing of theirs in Carmichael, hahaha. We went twice in line. Yes! Come to a Lifehouse show. They're also one of those weird bands that like to play in the middle of the week. Wtf. Can they stop doing that? Yes!! This is probably the worst schedule that I have this year. I'm up in Sacramento the weekend they're doing all this LA stuff. Fucking figures, really. Yes. You have to see the crazy in person. As far as I know it only happens at the HoB Anaheim which again ... it figures. I think their show's going to be on a Tuesday or some stupid day like that.

Haha liked her and then hated her. Well, you can't be blamed. Britney made people feel like that.

Ah. I was gonna give you Let the Music but I only have that one in single form too, somewhere. I'm sure I'll upload all my music one day and send it your way. It was truly epic. Boybands and European boybands collide. ... and The Moffatts snuck in there. I still pass Gower and think of Hang Time. :)

Uploading BWitched for you now! Almost done. Yeah, that day went by in a crazy blur. I remember sitting on the grass for a bunch of the acts which was stupid because I liked all of them, lol. I know our moms ended up sitting together. I really don't know why I didn't get back in the pit. It's all a mystery to me now.

Seriously. If you're gonna play in the middle of the week, at least have the courtesy to do it when I'm off from school. I'll take off work for shows, but I can't do both. Boo. Ugh, HOB Anaheim. That stupid places. I don't know if I can deal with it again with the added bonus of Hanson fans if they play there at a time when I can go. I always get some awful karmic retribution when I see shows there.

Awww Hang Time! I always think of Endfest since I park by Hornet Stadium. You clearly should have come back to the pit for Joey! haha. I do not remember a SINGLE thing about his set which bothers me. Damnit. I actually think he's doing a solo tour soon and not gonna lie, kind of want to go. I think he mentioned he might throw "I Love You Came Too Late" into his set list, so, sold. lol.

BWitched!

No kidding. Well, they're playing the weekend of the 6th but of course I'm in Sacramento. It's pretty much the worst timing ever. I was supposed to go to Sacto the week after but ... friend obligations have me going the weekend before. I know how you feel. I didn't even go to OLP this week. I couldn't. I couldn't go by myself to the venue of unhappiness. Something bad would've happened. I know it.

Totally thought about Endfest every time I was near Hornet Stadium. I always thought that the field looked a lot smaller than I remember it to be. I really should've gone back for Joey Mac AND Jordan! Wtf was wrong with me? I know EYC played, CNote, Vengaboys, and 98 Degrees was at the end. I fail. I remember who played but I don't remember watching any of them.

... you totally should. I mean "I Love You Came Too Late"? I'd so be rockin' that jam. I'm only half thinking about going to see BSB when they tour again. I'd have to endure all the new crap for the older stuff but I didn't like Kevin anyway so this could be a bonus. I'm totally listening to them right now. I'm on Anywhere For You, now.

Aw, OLP. I don't blame you, that place sucks. I'm also annoyed at myself because I was so stressed with midterms this past week that I completely forgot about the shows in SF I wanted to go to. I fail.

lol, same. I do not remember anyone's sets from Endfest! So weird. I usually have a pretty good memory when it comes to these things. I remember that I got up to 2nd row for 98 degrees but not any of the actual songs or anything. I probably should be happy I don't remember Jordan singing "Give It to You." Maybe it scarred my brain.

That song is honestly the only reason I'd feel genuinely compelled to go. I never listened to any of his albums after that first one, and even that one, I only liked a couple songs. That was always my fav, though. And the music video and how dramatic it was with him jumping up on the diner counter and all, lol.

I was listening to BSB a few weeks back. Brought back so many memories. I still love those albums.

This is the greatest music video, ever. I also forgot about "I Cried" haha. I so jammed on old BSB, N Sync, and Spice Girls today. Now I'm on Boyzone. I'm just having a 90's week.

Dude it is effin' impossible to find decent Modern Family icons! I don't even really like the one that I have but the choices were extremely slim. :( I just want like, a plethora of awesome Cameron/Mitchel ones. I actually did see a Phil one I liked but I forgot to save it. Maybe I"ll go back on an icon hunt.

Haha I know the feeling. Ever since my departure from having to wake up at 6:00 every morning, I wake up at about 11 and sleep around now. I'm not sleepy though since I took a nap. Aw, 90's. I'm still on Boyzone.

Last week was nuts, was it not? Someone has a good Dexter theory for this season. Usually I don't care and I just let it play out without really wanting any of my own input but it's a good theory.

Definitely going to watch them again. Let's see. Loving Cameron, Mitchel, Gloria (who is practically like her character in real life but the woman's got great timing). I love Phil. He makes me totally uncomfortable in just about every situation and that's what makes him awesome. My favorite episode so far is the Costco episode. But, I love the ending of every ep.

I really hate that they killed Lundy! I remember commenting on your entry but the theory made me want to ask again. I totally didn't pick up on any of that, lol. Well, I knew that there was a family dynamic in there somewhere. John Lithgow is totally creeping me out this season. I still love him though.

I LOVE the Costco scenes. That's my fav ep, too. And I love Phil in that episode and how he tries to justify Jay's attitude toward him. "Jay and I are buds for sure...but with kind of an invisible asterisk."

John Lithgow is awesome in the role. I wish we could just spend the whole of every episode concentrating on him and Dexter. I don't need the other storylines. Especially Quinn and that reporter chick. Ugh.

Exactly. The entire story should revolve around the two of them and no one else. Well, Deb makes me sad but it's a waste. Quinn and reporter chick made me gag tonight. I shielded my eyes from the uselessness of those two.
