Instead of making fun of your drug problem and anorexia, maybe someone should've gotten you some help. How anyone is saying "cardiac arrest" and linking it to her genetic makeup instead of her problems is really baffling.

Edit: Here's a picture of Brittany and Jonathan at prom together. They went to the same studio school.

This is so sad. Ashton Kutcher's tweets made me cry. I feel terrible for her.

I also hate that people are ignoring the fact that she was actually a good actress. She chose some bad roles, but she had some good work under her belt. I don't want her to be remembered for, "The girl who was in 'Just Married'."

I do too. They had such a history together. She's worked hard. I used to watch her on the Disney Channel when I was little and from there it was Clueless and Girl, Interrupted anyone? Riding in Cars With Boys, The Devil's Arithmetic, Common Ground, and she was a wonderful singer. It's a shame that she wasn't recognized more often.

I'm not going to pretend I was overly familiar with her work or paid her much attention but her death is still very sad. Young Hollywood is going through some issues right now.

She really was a fantastic actress and not for anything that she's done lately, unfortunately. It's a terrible trend that's occurring lately.

My favorite role of hers was Lisa in the remake of "David & Lisa." Strange, but true. She was awesome in that.

If she was diabetic, as her mother is apparently claiming, I can see how it could be a factor, but I seriously doubt that was the only cause.

I haven't seen that but I think that I will. I should see more of her movies. I liked her in The Devil's Arithmetic and Common Ground. I'm sure that she would've had some great roles in the future.

Yeah, I think that they've been covering up her problems for a long time.

Common Ground is such a great movie overall.

Lukas Haas played David . . . they were a fantastic match in that.

She could have been really awesome, if given the right roles. Like River Phoenix. I miss River Phoenix . . .

I really do love that movie. I haven't seen it in ages! I loved her segment.

They do sound like a great match in the movie. I'm going to find it.

Exactly. These are people who left way, way, way before their time. It's a loss to the acting community. Here we are left with the Miley Cyruses and Twilight people. It doesn't bode well for future films.

At least Joseph Gordon-Levitt is still around.

I want movies to be good again . . . I so rarely go to them anymore because they're just not worth it. Good writing, good acting . . . it's a rare combination these days.

I'm really, really glad that he's doing okay. He had a dark streak but it seems to fit well in his film choices and now he's back to doing a little more on the light side. It's great.

I do too. I don't remember the last time that I saw a great movie. Taking Woodstock was good but I haven't seen anything I've loved in a long time.

Haven't seen Taking Woodstock yet, though chunks of it were shot not too far from me. And they did some of the casting where I work. One of the librarian's sisters ended up with a tiny part in it, though I don't know if they kept the lines they gave her. But when the trailer came out she was all, "That's the back of my sister's head!"

No kidding? Hmm, wonder what part she had! There were so many people in that movie.

I think she was just a random hippie.

It was such a shock to hear about her passing this morning. I wasn't someone that followed her or anything but I did love some of her work. I want to echo the comment above about Young Hollywood...it really is a shame.

Exactly. I think that it should be a lesson for Hollywood to learn. Child stars have a long history of problems.

AMEN. It truly is baffling. She seemed close with her mom and I'm disappointed that she didn't got far and beyond to get her daughter better. I guess her hubby didn't bother seeking help, either. He refuses to have an autopsy done on her body. CLEARLY, he knows something. The Coroner's are performing the autopsy, anyway. She's 32 and she's gone! Her family, hubby and friends knew she had a problem. Why did they not get her help? It's so ridiculous. :(

Awww at that picture. I still miss our bb, Jonathan.

It's not as if I wanted people to focus on her problems and exploit that about her. But, I think that someone should've said, "Wow. Why is Brittany Murphy so unbelievably skinny?" In this circumstances, I always wish and I hope, that she sought help or maybe she just didn't think that she had a problem. I know that we'll never really know. I wasn't there and neither was anyone else but doesn't anyone notice that this is a bad trend among Young Hollywood? I don't know what the solution is.

I know. :( I immediately thought of him because they were friends when they were teens. They're together now.

I've not been reading about it but I saw it first in a friend's twitter and thought it was very tragic. It reminds me of Stephen's recent death although for me it's different because I don't really know anything about her and I think I've seen her just in a movie (clueless) and she was good. I'm sad for her family and fans and hope people won't invent stuff about the causes. I also read it later in the yahoo news and there was pic of her looking extremely thin but maybe it wasn't recent.. I have no idea.. whatever the reason, it's truly very sad.

ETA: ok, I'm reading your comments and it seems that she really had some problems.. then it's not like Stephen's death. I'm sorry to hear that.

Yeah, she's definitely always had issues with her weight. I don't think that that was well known or anything but anyone could tell from looking at her that she was underweight. Some article finally mentioned it. The circumstances are still tragic. I think it just hit close to home because she used to be close to Jonathan and it's just yet another person who left too soon. Sigh.

I totally agree with you and sorry that you read the news like that. She really was fantastic. She hit some bad luck recently but I didn't think that she would ever disappear. She really reminds me of Jonathan because they were friends, had the same tutor, went to the same school. Well, maybe they're hanging out together right now. Sigh.

That picture is the first thing I thought of when I heard about her. I heard so many things about her when Jonathan died. She seemed like a really sweet person. She had some great films under her belt and it's a shame she didn't have more time to explore more roles.
